Shale Shaker Functions in Solids Control System

Shale shaker is the 1st stage separation equipment for oilfield solids control system. It adopts vibrating motor to generate vibrating force. The vibrating force drives the drilling fluid with cuttings pass through the shale shaker. When the drilling fluid goes through the shale shaker screen, clean mud will be filtered and goes into mud tank. Non-allowable bigger solids will pass the screen surface and be discharged to cuttings pot.

There are mainly two types of shale shaker applied in solids control system for drilling cuttings separation.
A. Balanced elliptical motion shale shaker. It is not recommended for oil and gas drilling since the flow capacity is big. If the mud flow is not equal, the motion of shaker will be changed. And performance will not be good. Mostly, professional users prefer linear motion for wide application.

B. Linear motion shale shaker. This is the most common shaker type for oil and gas drilling solids control system.
The drilling cuttings separation size of shale shaker depends on shale shaker screen size. We name it API size or mesh size. The API defers from API 20 to API 325 per API RP13 standard. By changing different shale shaker screen mesh size, the shale shaker can separate solids from min. above 40μm (with API 325 shaker screen). The common shale shaker size is API60, API80, API100, API140, API160. Customer can choose the proper screen size according to drilling fluid condition.

What are the Special Functions of KOSUN shale shaker in drilling cuttings separation?

KOSUN shale shaker has AWD angle adjustment system, which is a patented design. It is synchronized change for both sides. You can adjust from any side, the angle change is the same for both sides.

KOSUN has options for AWD angle adjustment: left side of the drilling shale shaker is a small motor for automatic control. There is control for the small motor on shale shaker control panel. While the shale shaker right side uses tools for angle adjustment. KOSUN offers tools together with the shale shaker. User can choose any way to change the angle.

Mono Screw Pump Working Principle and Apllication

M ono screw pump , also called  sewage pump  or  progressive cavity pump ,  belongs to the rotor type positive displacement pump .   M ono screw pump  is depend ing  on the screw meshing with liner on the discharge and suction cavity to conveying liquid volume change.   It is a kind of method of pressurized screw pump, a main working parts by bushing has a double helix cavity (stator) and the stator cavity and its meshing singlehead screw screw (rotor).   When the input shaft through the universal joint drive making planets revolving around the center of the stator, rotor stator, rotor, vice is continuous mesh form sealed cavity, the seal chamber volume invariably uniform axial movement, the medium from the suction end of deputy to the stator, rotor pressure side, the suction medium sealed cavity through the stator without stirring and destruction. M ono screw pump  is an ideal pump used to feed drilling fluids to ...

Water Based Mud Drilling Cuttings Management

In  geotechnical engineering ,   drilling fluid is used to aid the drilling of  boreholes   into the earth , o ften used while drilling  oil  and  natural gas  wells and on exploration drilling rigs , and  also for much simpler boreholes  like   water wells . Liquid drilling fluid is often called drilling mud. The three main categories of drilling fluids are water-based mud (which can be dispersed and non-dispersed), non-aqueous mud, usually called oil-based mud, and gaseous drilling fluid, in which a wide range of  gases  can be used. The main functions of drilling fluids include :  providing  hydrostatic pressure  to prevent  formation fluids  from entering into the well bore, keeping the  drill bit  cool and clean during drilling, carrying out drill cuttings, and suspending the drill cuttings while drilling is paused and when the drilling assembly is brought in and out...

Drill Cuttings Separation by Shale Shakers

Drilling mud is pumped from the surface through the hollow drill string, exits through nozzles in the drill bit, and returns to the surface through the annular space between the drill string and the walls of the hole.  Drilling fluid is used to control subsurface pressures, lubricate the drill bit, stabilize the well bore, and carry the cuttings to the surface, among other functions. As the drill bit grinds rocks into drill cuttings, these cuttings become entrained in the mud flow and are carried to the surface. In order to return the mud to the mud circulating system and to make the solids easier to handle, the drill cuttings must be separated from the mud. The first step in drill cuttings separation  from the mud involves circulating the mixture of mud and cuttings over vibrating screens called shale shakers. The mud passes through the screens and is circulated back to the mud tanks from which mud is withdrawn for pumping downhole. The d...
